More about Åsa

Åsa was born and raised in Stockholm. Today, she lives alternately with her husband in Muskö, Stockholm's southern archipelago, and in the southern suburbs.

In Muskö, Åsa has her beloved studio where she spends much of her time.

Åsa has always drawn and painted, at school drawing was her favorite subject where she also got the highest grade. When the three children grew up, there was time again to explore creation and Åsa came into contact with the intuitive painting method Vedic Art.

She later trained as a teacher in the method and sometimes holds courses.

Over the years, painting has had periods of hiatus when work, family and life came in between.

In connection with pain rehabilitation after a back injury, she received a message from her inner self during a meditation. She would start painting again!

Åsa started the brushes and hasn't put them away since! She experienced painting as healing. She became pain free when she painted and stress disappeared when she was in her painting flow! Eventually, she enrolled in the Mastery program, a one-year online program at the Milan Art Institute in the United States. During that year, she learned several classical methods, i.a. in oil painting, which was completely new for Åsa.

With her art, Åsa wants to draw the viewer's attention to the beautiful and positive. Åsa has a love for animals and has had horses, dogs and cats. She is delighted by beautiful flowers and they are often motifs in the paintings. The portraits of mature women "Silver sisters" wants to highlight the beauty of getting older and encourages mature women to be proud of themselves and to believe in their dreams.

The horses are a recurring motif in Åsa's artwork. Åsa no longer rides but is happy to paint horses. Dragonflies are often present, they represent happiness, development and intuition.

The technique she uses is mixed media with oil. Sometimes pure oil paintings or watercolors.

Åsa finds inspiration in her surroundings and in her experiences. She plans the paintings to some extent before she starts. The process is then also guided by intuition. The paintings are often colorful with some neutral tones. With her art, Åsa wants to convey calm, joy, beauty and pride.

Several viewers of Åsa's art express that they are happy when they see it!

"To paint is to take a journey in the creative process, a journey that gives flow, wonder and contemplation! Looking at the art takes you on that journey into the beautiful world of colors"

Åsa has her studio in Muskö in the middle of nature. Dragonflies, birds and insects of all kinds fly outside. Deer and moose also appear and all animals and plants are a great source of inspiration. Next to the studio, her husband has his home office, so they have lunch together when he works from home. The studio cat is also a nice companion.

Åsa works as a workshop leader a few hours a week with people who suffer from mental illness. A very meaningful and stimulating assignment.

In the studio, Åsa is currently working on painting for the summer group exhibitions and the autumn solo exhibition at Söder in Stockholm.
